Type communication tool
MBTI Compatibility Calculator
Choose two personality types to explore where communication may feel more familiar and where clearer translation may help. The score is a structured conversation prompt, not a prediction about a relationship.
How the compatibility heuristic works
The calculator compares the four letters of two self-reported MBTI-style types in three everyday contexts.
A matching preference receives the full dimension weight because less communication translation may be needed.
A different preference receives half the dimension weight. Difference is not a defect; it signals an area to discuss explicitly.
Romance, friendship, and work use fixed weights. Their rounded scores are averaged into a total from 50 to 100.

Compare nearby types
These guides explain personality differences; the calculator above focuses on communication patterns.
- INTJ vs INTP The final letter changes the rhythm of the whole pattern. An INTJ may narrow options once a workable strategy emerges and then coordinate steps toward it. An INTP may continue testing definitions, exceptions, and alternative explanations before treating the question as settled. Neither approach indicates stronger reasoning; one favors directed closure, while the other protects room for revision.
- ISFJ vs INFJ An ISFJ may notice which concrete detail, established need, or past experience can guide the next helpful step. An INFJ may notice the theme connecting several events and ask what it suggests about future direction or unspoken motives. Both can be observant and caring; the contrast concerns the kind of information that first feels trustworthy and useful, not how deeply either person understands others.

Compatibility questions
Does a higher score mean a relationship will work?
No. The score only summarizes letter similarity with fixed context weights. Relationship outcomes depend on behavior, consent, trust, circumstances, and many factors this tool cannot measure.
Can types with more differences work well together?
Yes. Different preferences can offer range and complementary perspectives. Clear communication and respect matter more than the number shown here.
Why are the results the same when the types are reversed?
The method treats a pair as unordered. Reversing the selectors changes the display order but not the dimensions, score, or shared URL.
