What this click speed test is for

This tool measures how many repeated clicks or taps your browser accepts during a fixed interval. Choose your actual input device and a 5, 10, or 30 second run, press Start, wait for the countdown, then click, tap, or use Enter or Space in the test area until time expires. It is useful for checking technique and tracking your own consistency.

How CPS and average interval are calculated

CPS = clicks ÷ measured seconds. For example, 60 accepted clicks in 10 seconds is 6 CPS. When there is at least one click, average interval (ms) = 1,000 ÷ CPS; 6 CPS corresponds to about 167 ms between clicks. The interval is an average across the run, not the timing of every individual click.

Why device and test conditions matter

A mouse switch, trackpad gesture, and touchscreen tap involve different travel, contact, and input processing, so their CPS scores are not interchangeable. Display refresh rate, device and system latency, browser load, background work, hand position, technique, and fatigue can all shift a result.

For a useful retest, keep the same device, duration, same browser, hand, and technique; keep browser load similar; and allow comparable rest. Repeat several runs under those conditions instead of treating one attempt as a permanent score.

Click speed versus reaction time

Click speed measures repeated motor input after you know the task has begun. A reaction time test measures the delay from an unpredictable visual cue to a single response. A fast CPS score therefore does not prove fast reflexes, accuracy, aiming, decision-making, endurance, or overall gaming ability.

What this result cannot tell you

This browser tool cannot isolate hardware latency from human movement, diagnose a health condition, or predict performance in a game or job. Use it as a personal, device-specific snapshot. Pain or strain is a reason to stop, not to push for a higher number.

What does a click speed test measure?

It measures repeated inputs over a fixed time and reports clicks per second, total clicks, and average time between clicks. It does not measure reaction time or overall gaming skill.

How is CPS calculated?

CPS equals accepted clicks divided by measured seconds. Average interval in milliseconds is 1,000 divided by CPS when at least one click is recorded.

Which test duration should I use?

Five seconds is convenient for a quick attempt, 10 seconds balances speed and consistency, and 30 seconds makes pacing and fatigue more visible. Compare only attempts of the same duration.

Why do mouse, trackpad, and touchscreen results differ?

The devices use different switches, gestures, finger movements, and input processing. Treat each device as a separate baseline instead of comparing scores directly.

How can I retest fairly?

Use the same device, duration, browser, hand position, and technique. Keep browser load similar, rest between attempts, and compare several runs rather than one peak score.

Do the rating bands represent global rankings?
